Rainy Season Round 2

What’s up!!

Hey everyone! How’d the week go? Hope everyone is doing amazing and had a great week, this week was crazy and went by so fast! I’m low on time but I’ll jump right on in! Love you all 🫶

✨️ Highlights – – – – – –

– Gotta start off with the homerun of the week, we had our Elder Christopherson devotional today with a few other Mexico City missions and it was actually unreal. The Spirit was so strong the whole time and I left with so many impressions and tons of personal revelation. He speaks amazing Spanish! One of my favorite things he talked about was the importance of keeping the fundamental principles of the Doctrine of Jesus Christ as our foundation. No other foundation is sufficient to build off of. One thing he said that I really liked was that yes, we are all going to have questions or doubts or confusions, but if we focus the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ and in His gospel, if we continually strengthen and grow our testimony in Him, the other questions become less important and more secondary. Amazing devotional, huge thanks to Elder Christopherson!

– Also dope, the East mission was there so we had a partially-complete MTC Reunion and it was so good! Great to catch up with all of you 🙌 keep killing it out there. It was all brought together by President and Sister Quick, I miss them so much!! I love you all, so good to meet up! Bonus of the devotional, we will get pday make up time tomorrow so that’s clutch!

– We had tranfers on Thursday which was so so sad because Elder Warren left. Great dude and legendary missionary and I will for sure miss him tons. Transfer went by unbelievably fast! I stayed in Casas Alemán and got Elder Herrera, my first Latino companion, and he is so funny and so cool! The last few days have been super fun and he is an amazing missionary. We had some great bag-packing chats on Wednesday night 🥹

– We painted the kitchen of the Vizuette family’s house before tranfers, who are recent converts, and it was mayhem and I think she might slightly hate our paint job, but she was laughing the whole time and it was so fun! Elder Warren managed to drip paint in his hair and looked like an old man for a minute there.

– Rainy season is backkkkk in full swing! I seem to recall being way more excited than I should have been. The good news is it’s not so hot, but the bad news is my toes are always wet. Waterproof leather only goes so far when the water is over my ankles I guess, good news is that it’s boots time! Not as many people out and about and the sewers are starting to back up, but the air is clean and the streets are cleaner! Let’s go rainy season

– They set up a fair this week by our house and there were tons of people and even more noise, a couple nights of rough sleep ensued. Couldn’t possibly be worse though than a night of Jared West post-beans on toast. No thanks.

– Elder Herrera has this game we play where every Nissan March is worth a different amount of points, based on its color. White, gray, and black are one point, red and blue are two points, and etc as the paint jobs get more exotic. Picture attatched of a Nissan March we saw the other day that almost brought my companion to tears. How many points is it worth??

– Sugey got baptized this week and it was one of my favorite baptisms! It’s been so cool to see the change she has had, from where she didn’t believe God existed, to later sharing her testimony in her own baptism that God answers sincere prayers, knows us, loves us, and will make Himself manifest to us. She has had such great support from the members and it was so cool to see her get baptized!!

I think that about wraps up the highlights for this week, it was such a good week and we saw so many miracles. The Spirit has been here so strongly, missions are so so cool, and I feel myself growing every day in knowledge, testimony, and discipleship as I try to help others, which has brought me a ton of joy!!

📖 Spiritual – – – – – –

First of all, one of the things that Elder Christopherson mentioned in his talk today various times and consistently referenced is a fantastic talk by President Nelson from October 2022 about overcoming the world and finding rest! In fact, I think that is the exact title, and it’s an amazing talk! Here, you should go read it:

Such a good talk!! I loved how much emphasis that Elder Christopherson put on daily personal conversion. We can’t grow closer to Jesus Christ and overcome the difficulties of the world, and one day find rest, if we don’t put in the small and simple, but crucial efforts to become better disciples of Christ every day.

I like what Alma taught the people to do in Mosiah 18, and especially like the blessings that come to us as people and as a church united in God as we seek to become better:

“[…] there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.”

Man, that sounds pretty ideal to me! The little things we do every day make a huge difference not just in the long run, but also on the daily! I promise every day is better when you pray and read the scriptures (better yet, study the scriptures) than when we skip out on a day or two. It builds up fast. But it also builds up fast when we choose to skip. So, my invitation to you this week, as it has been in the past, is to prioritize your personal conversion to the fundamental Gospel of Jesus Christ every day. This is the doctrine that brings joy and peace in the world and eternal life in the world to come. Do the things you need to every day to truly strengthen your relationship and love with your Heavenly Father, and that all the other stuff come along with it. I promise it will bring you daily and eternal joy and peace!

I love you all so much, thanks for reading!! I hope you have a fantastic week! Go read the last 2 verses of Enos in the Book of Mormon if you are looking for some place to get started, it had me fired up this week!

Go have an amazing week and go get after it, have a fantastic summer and remember that you are in my prayers! I love you all so much, and we will talk soon!!
