Que onda cuates!

I hope everyone is doing so great this week and is just loving life! Hopefully spring weather is making everything warm and green and lovely back home! This week was a fantastic one out here, if not one of the craziest weeks of my mission to this point. So, without delaying to much longer, I’ll get started!

Pre-highlight, happy mother’s day!! Im so so grateful for all you great people out there who sacrifice not just to help your kids but everyone around you. I love you Mom!

✨️ Highlightssss:

– This week there were some emergency transfers in the Zone, and the other Elders that shared a ward with us got moved to some other parts of the mission, so we took over their area! It’s been a lot of work, but also a ton of fun and lots of miracles! I will admit that I appreciated a smaller area before we took Casas Alemán 2 but it should be back to being divided by transfers!

– On Wednesday we had MLC with Elder Montoya and it was so so cool! It was a very spiritual experience and I loved what he taught us about the importance of the Sacrament, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the need to give our all to the work but especially to the Savior! Great guy, great experience!

– Right after that, we went on divisions with the APs which was initially stressful but actually super dope. I went with AP Boothe and stayed in Casas (shootout for the 1st day in the field repeat!) and we went crazy and found tons of people and tried to learn the Casas 2 area, since he was there before! He is a great example and I learned a lot from him, Wednesday was a fantastic day!

– Well we got home super late from those divisions, but as we were leaving the offices the Secretaries (yeses Elder Budge!) said “see you tomorrow in 6 hours to go to immigration!” That was a surprise! We woke up at 5 to take an Uber to immigration down in the boujie part of town, and the good news is that the traffic is so bad in the city that it was like a 2.5 hour ride so we got to nap most of the way. Better still, the driver was playing a playlist of almost purely Michael Jackson. While my companion was in immigration I got to hang out with Elder Budge and get bread, explore a mostly-closed mall, and just talk about life! He’s going home so fast which is so sad, but it was so good to just talk with him! Adventurous day, lots of fun experiences!

– We got to go to the visitors center yesterday with an amazing kid named Sugey who’s in teaching and lives in the same little apartment complex as a bunch of member families! The experience was so cool and was the strongest I’ve ever felt the Spirit there, it was actually almost overwhelming. I think I needed that experience maybe even more than she did. The temple (and the visitors center!) are such important and spiritually powerful places!

– While waiting for Sugey, we sat with one of her friends (she does her nails) named Cecilia, who got baptized about a year ago! She is one of the funniest ladies I’ve met, and asks us to call her abuelita! She acts a little crazy but is sooo funny. She was cooking while we came over, so she asked us to watch her “precious pug Luna” while she cooked inside. Luna is the fattest pug I have ever seen, and it was a lot better because they pronounce “pug” here as “poog”. My companion has this back scratcher he uses to pet dogs (they loveee it) so he entertained Luna for awhile, but not after she shed probably half her hair onto the ground, my GOODNESS. She was even trying to eat it. Cecilia came out, saw all the hair, and then brought out here other elderly neighbor and accused her chihuahuas. After some minor arguing, Cecilia convinced the lady that it couldn’t be her precious poog, and we moved on with the day. I was laughing so hard.

– I still have more hair than Jared West, which is always a highlight.

– We had Stake Conference this week, and it was also an amazing experience, it was very centralized on the importance of making covenants with our Heavenly Father and missionary work!

– I went on divisions with Elder Cuttiani and I have really been learning a lot of great terms lately. He taught me all the Argentinian slang and Angel the goat taught me all of the jerga Chilanga.

– We got fed “standing tacos” by an amazing recent convert family and they were deliciousssss. They are some really funny and great people, and they gifted me a capybara pen when we left! It’s a great pen.

Well, that’s about all the mentionable stuff that happened this week, but it was such a good week! We are so busy and sometimes it’s kind of stressful but it was so much fun! Mother’s day was the highlight for sure, so thanks to all you great moms (especially my own Mom) and mom figures out there making the world a better place!

📖 Spiritual Thought

Well this week I read in Mosiah about Abinadi, who was a great dude, prophet, and missionary. I love so much of what he taught, but one thing that I love is the way he repeatedly quotes a couple verses in Isaiah 52, or Mosiah 15:

“And [the prophets who testified of Christ] are they who have published peace, who have brought good tidings of good, who have published salvation; and said unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!

And O how beautiful upon the mountains were their feet!”

Prophets testify of the peace of Christ! And we have the oppurtunity to do the same as disciples of Christ!

“And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that are still publishing peace!

And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who shall hereafter publish peace, yea, from this time henceforth and forever!

And behold, I say unto you, this is not all. For O how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that is the founder of peace, yea, even the Lord, who has redeemed his people; yea, him who has granted salvation unto his people.”

I love that so much, and I’m low on time, so I’ll leave that mostly as is! I just want to invite you all to publish the good tidings of peace and help others feel the love of Christ through the people you are and the things you do! We have the chance to preach about His coming and bring the message of peace, and He fulfills His part by filling our lives with the peace, comfort, forgiveness, and love we need! Go out there and share that peace with someone else!!

I love you all so much! Go make it a great week, have fun, and take care of yourselves! We will talk soon!
