Bag Packing Houdini

What’s up everyone!

This week was an absolutely killer week so I’m excited to talk about all the stuff that happened! I stayed again in my area for a 6th transfer which is absolutely unbelievable, probably because it’s falseee mwahaha! Anyways, I’ll jump in with the highlights! Hope you all had a great week!

✨Weekly Highlights
– I got transfered! Love the Cuauhtémoc Ward, but it was time for a change, and the change came! I got moved to Casas Alemán, which is actually the area I spent my first night which is kind of crazy! I absolutely love this area already though so I am so excited!

– I miraculously got all of my stuff to fit in my bags, which was either the greatest human feat or purely the hand of God. I gained so much stuff the last 5 transfers and man my bags almost exploded, but we made it baby!

– The new house is actually pretty boujie! (I have no idea how to spell that) I’ll give you a rundown on what it’s like. We got a washing machine, but no water filter. My mattress seems to have a hole in the middle of it roughly the size of a sedan’s spare tire, but we have two large and luxurious couches! Plus, we just visited Walmart and restocked the place with a ridiculous amount of food, so life is going good!

– The area is about a quarter of the size of my last area, but the ward is so kind and the people that live here in general are just awesome! It’s a really quiet and calm area compared to the last one, and the tortas and al pastor tacos are apparently the best in the city, confirmed that they are unreal. The last couple days we already have 2 amazing people on baptismal dates, please pray for Antonia and Rodolpho!
They are such nice people and are familiar with the church (given the temple is like 3 blocks away) and they are so engaged and excited about the church!

– We double up the ward with another companionship, and it has been so fun so far, they host boxing matches in their house and there is nothing quite like watching a little 5’5″ Oaxaqueño fight a 6’3″ Idaho farm kid, very entertaining! My companion (different from the boxer, but also from Idaho) is named Elder Warren, he played football and loves skiing so we instantly got along, is so funny and has been super good about helping me grow as a missionary! I love this dude and I am so excited to see what happens these next couple transfers!
Other than that this week has been awesome, packed with meetings and everything, and just so exciting! We have hills in our Zone that I already got to visit so that was way sweet, and I’m just so excited to be here and work in this area with Elder Warren! It’s going to be tons of work but
“If God’s got us then we gonna be alright”
Thanks Kendrick!
📖 Spiritual Thoughts

This week, as a post-general conference study I was reading a bunch in the early chapters of Mosiah, where King Benjamin gives basically his own general conference address to his people! Those are some amazing chapters, but some verses stuck out to me in particular this week, from Mosiah 4:

“Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.”

First of all, I love that line! We can’t comprehend everything God does, but as a Perfect and Omnipotent Being, He has a perfect plan that works out better than our own. We need to trust in His plan rather than our own!

Now, a bit of scolding calls to repentance from King Benny,

“And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you;”

Now, one of mine, and definitely my Dad’s, favorite lines of scripture right here:

and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.

That is just so good. It’s one thing to know something is right, and another thing entirely to actually put it into practice. Just like James taught, when he said that faith without works is dead. It’s so crucially important to put into practice the things that we learn from the scriptures, living prophets, and personal revelation. If we don’t actually do the things we are taught, learn, and know, then really, all that stuff is kind of useless! On top of that, the Lord promises blessings to all those who put into action the things He asks of us and teaches us:

“And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.”

When we put into practice the things we know, when our faith is proven by our works, when our actions our consistent with out convictions, or however you want to say it, then will we recieve greater knowledge and joy from our Heavenly Father, because then we are proving to Him that we will follow in doing that which he asks of us!

So, my invitation to you this week is to act on the revelation and knowledge that your Heavenly Father is blessing you with! Make small and simple changes in your mood, habits, and actions every day and our Heavenly Father will keep on blessing you with more knowledge and revelation, and each of us can then rejoice in Him!

Everyone go out there and make it an absolutely great week this week! You’ll be in my prayers and I hope you know how much I love you all! That’s all for this week, talk sook!

I love you all!
