Que onda carnales!
Hope everyone is doing simply great! Great last week of the transfer this week! It went by so quick, I’m so glad for all the time I’ve had with Elder Marx, its been so fun and I have learned a ton! Let’s go right in to what happened this week:

– First of all, transfers are this Thursday, so crazy that they came around this fast! We will find out who goes where tomorrow night! Given that I have predicted wrong the last 3 times at least, I’ll keep quiet about whether I think I’m going to stay a 6th transfer in Cuauhtémoc or if I’m headed somewhere else. Excited to find out!
– Linda, absolutely legendary recent convert, gave E. Marx and I both a cologne based on our “essences” which was kind of concerning. I got one called “HUGQ BOOS”, not sure if I’m going to use it, my essence seems to be a combination of chain lube and old car freshener. Actually, that’s gotta be deadly accurate. The gesture was an absolute 11/10 though! It’s still better than a previous companions Savauge so no complaints there
– General Conference was amazing and I felt like so many talks stuck out specifically for me! Such a cool experience, but more to come about that in the next section

– The Vera family of returned missionaries took the 4 missionaries to Casa de Toño and it was so fun! Lots of food and lots of mission chisme
– We met this awesome lady named Virginia who has the funniest three year old grandson, and a massive pitbull. The pitbull jumped up against the gate and was chomping towards Elder Marx, and the 3 y/o did not like that, so he yanked the dog down by the tail and kind of just spanked it before dragging it over to feed him some ice clubes. I wish I got a picture, it was so funny watching the tiny kid boss around the dog that was like four times his size
– This week we have had a lot more success finding people that are genuinely super interested in listening to what we have to say, and that has been so cool! Miracles are so real and more miracles are no doubt right around the corner.
– Today we went to the National Anthropology Museum, which was incredibly big and kind of overwhelming, wow. They have so so many cool artifacts and things in there, it was actually crazy. That’s gotta be the biggest collection of Mayan/Aztec/Mexica/native indigenous things in the world, it was so so cool, the history was so interesting and all the scultpures and stuff was crazy!
– The absolute highlight of my week was going to get churros with Mr. Durham! Such an amazing teacher and friend and it was so cool to see him and his family down here and catch up for a few minutes while eating some delicious churros. I loved it so much!!
Such a good this week! Excited to see what happens this coming week too!

General Conference was a huge highlight for me this week, I hope everyone had a chance to watch at least part of it! I’ll definitely be going back and watching parts of it again, I thought it was so so good!
One of my favorite talks was by Sister Tamara W. Runia, it stuck out to me so much! I loved this quote in particular from her:
“While God cares about our mistakes, He cares more about what happens after we make a mistake. Are we going to turn to Him again and again?”
That is so so true! The mistake itself doesn’t matter as much as our reactions to the mistakes we make do. Our Heavenly Father cares so much more about our efforts and our repentant hearts than our imperfections and errors. Nothing we do, even obedience to His commandments, will ever change His perfect love for us. He understands that we will make mistakes, that’s exactly why He sent us His Son, to atone and allow us repentance to overcome our sins!
I loved her invitation to imagine the way Jesus advocates for us. He felt everything we feel. He knows how to help us along, and He is there the whole time, ready to help. I thought that was an amazing talk, and I also loved the emphasis on discipleship! I also thought some talks mentioned missionary work a lot, which tied in nicely to an awesome scripture I read in the Book of Mormon, in Enos: (verses 26 and 27)
“I must preach and prophesy unto this people, and declare the word according to the truth which is in Christ. And I have declared it in all my days, and have rejoiced in it above that of the world. And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father.”
Alright, maybe all of us can’t relate to the dying soon aspect of that scripture, but I think that outlook is a great life goal to have. Enos rejoiced, preached, and taught of Christ his whole life, and he looked back with a peace of mind knowing that he overcame the world (or the natural man) and became a Saint, ready to enter into God’s rest, because he chose to.
He very well could have followed what the rest of his people were doing, being wicked and forgetting Christ, but among all the chaos he chose Christ, and had the peace of knowing that, despite his imperfections, he would enter into God’s rest. That is the example we should all follow. I loved the emphasis in Conference of becoming humble as little children, and overcoming the world to become saints and disciples through Jesus Christ. When we put in our efforts and overcome our mistakes with desires to work harder, we can all choose to hear these words once it’s all wrapped up, whether mission, calling, or even life:
“Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father.”
I love that! Thus life is all about eternal progression, and we all have the opportunity to choose to progress and choose Christ, even through all the mistakes and messes. I love watching other and myself learn and progress, and really, progress, not practice, makes perfect. Choose to be a little better each day, and turn to Christ even through the mistakes, and I promise that this life, and the next life, will be even more joyful for you!
Alright well that wraps up this week, it was such a good one! I hope you all had an amazing week, and that this next week is awesome too! I love you all so much and miss you! Keeping you in my prayers
