Shower Drain Hosts Evil Spirits

What’s up!

How’s everyone doinggggg I hope everything is going so great at home! I miss you all!
This week was a fantastic last week of the transfer and it was seriously just so full of miracles, I absolutely loved it! Wrapped up the transfer super nicely and I’ve loved being here with Elder Marx. So crazy that I’ve already put in 6 months in this same ward…we get the transfers call tomorrow night and this time it’s almost certain that I am out of here. I did say that last time, but I’m pretty doggone certain that I’m out of here this round. Please pray I can fit everything into my bagsssss
✨Weekly Highlights
– We went running this week in the mornint because we finally decidee we were getting too fat. It cooked my legs but felt so nice and I hope I can make it a habit!
– Domingo got baptized on Saturday!! I have known this guy my whole time out in the field and he is so good, and it was finally his time to be baptized which was absolutely awesome. I am so excited and proud of that guy. Not a ton of members showed up, but the few and faithful that did are his really good friends and it made it a super special baptism. I love that guy and I am so proud of him!
– A member family was sad that transfers were coming up, so as a goodbye gift, they gave each of us a 1kg box of those De La Rosa mazapan things. I am going to be sooooo fat, so I might just leave it with Elder Marx when I leave 🤭
– A member I’ve somehow never met fed us at his house one day, and gave us peel-on boiled banana soup! That was a pretty adventurous meal, the inside of the banana was pink around the peel. It gave me righteously strong stomach issues but we are all over it now, no fret!
– I’ve been marking up a hard-cover Book of Mormon in English based on a few different topics I really love, and man that has been so powerful and cool to me! The Book of Mormon is absolutely amazing
– Luisa got baptized on Sunday!! That lady is truly a miracle and has had such a cool change of heart. Her baptism was absolutely amazing and she brought her whole family with her. The boiler ended up failing and the water was freezing, she was afraid she was going to get sick. But she said “Lord willing, I will get baptized and He won’t make me sick”, we visited her and she’s perfectly healthy!! She was sobbing afterwards because she was so happy, brought tears to my eyes. Amazing woman, such a miracle!!
– We went to the temple today, and man that is always such a highlight. There really is peace and answers ready and waiting for you as you seek the Spirit in the temple. I’m so glad we gave one so close!
– Our shower clogged up again, so I tried to permanently fix it by popping up the grate and some magic little other cover thing over the pipe. I have never smelled something so nasty and strong, and never seen a more disturbing and disgusting sight. I have learned. Went at it with a headlamp and two forks (I should probably throw those away now) and still managed to flick whatever that black goop all over my leg. I definitely screamed and gagged a few timws but I promise I went at the shower in a super manly fashion. That was a truly gross time but hey the shower is draining water like it was brand new, so we got the job done. Never plan to do that ever ever again.
– I wanted to have a chance to say goodbye to the Gonzalez family in case I leave on Thursday morning, so we visited them last night. It was so much fun and I have absolutely loved meeting them and spending time with them. As we left, Zafiro gave me a little card and Linda gave me a drawing of Donald Duck and a note on the back, and it really made me tear up bad. It was so so hard to say goodbye to them, but I am most definitely visiting them again. That family has been nothing short of an incredible miracle for me and they really changed the course of my mission, I love that family and am so thankful for each of them. They have changed my life
– I’ve been reading “A Faithful Response to the CES Letter” by Jim Bennet. Pretty sure you could go find it for free online if your interested, or I’m happy to email it to you! Wow, it has given me a ton of perspective and really opened my eyes, and testifies to the truth of the Book of Mormon. If anyone has doubts or questioks about Church history, Book of Mormon, or just way too much spare time on your hands (it’s really long) I would highly highly recommend it. It may not answer all of your questions, but it is really interesting and insightful, I’ve enjoyed it so far!
That’s pretty much how the week has gone, it has been full of miracles and the Hand of the Lord. It’s been a great week and transfer, and I’m sad to see it go! Moving on, anyways.
📖 Spiritual Thought
Hey don’t skip it!
I love the Book of Mormon so much!! To me, it is undeniably true and very clearly written for our day. I especially love Alma’s advice to his sons, which might as well be advice to his all. I think these scriptures are simple but comforting and to the point, and I loved reading in there this week!
Really, becoming a disciple of Christ isn’t too complicated. We just need to follow His words and teachings! The scriptures and prophets have laid them out, and as Alma says in chapter 37…
“The words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.
O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepared for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us. The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever.
And now, my son, see that ye take care of these sacred things, yea, see that ye look to God and live.”
It’s really that simple, the words and teachings of Christ will lead us through this life and into eternal joy in the next! So, we shouldn’t be lazy about it. I love the term used frequently (pretty sure someone said this in a general conference, don’t remember who) of being “anxiously engaged” in the gospel! Christ has already prepared the way, and if we follow it, we may live forever. Now that is a seriously good promise.
Let the words of Christ take hold in your life. Look and live! Even when days out here get kind of stinky, the words of Christ literally do make it so much easier. There is so much comfort in the scriptures, they really do carry us through the sorrow and bring us closer to paradise! Study the words of Christ, please! Become familiar with who He is through the scriptures and the words of His prophets. It is an experience that is just so full of joy, answers, and comfort. Make Him a priority in your life by studying His word! Remember, faith isn’t just a principle of belief or feelings but especially of actions, so go read some good words of the good Savior. You will get to know Him through His words!
Well, there was my week, I hope the rest of you had an incredible week this week! I hope you are all thrilled that, at last, I figured out how to BCC everyone in an email. Enjoy! I love you all so so much haha and miss you all like crazy! Make it a great week and remember to study the words of Christ!
I love you all!!
