Hello everyone!
Happy Tuesday, I hope your week is going well and that everyone is doing just great! It’s gotta be a fun time of year if you get to go skiing and watch Ohio State smash through the playoffs. I miss you all and love you!!
This week was pretty doggone solid, and I think I’ll stick with a recent weekly trend. I realized by bold/italicized/underlined words and phrases didn’t carry over from notes into my actual emails, so I’ll be sure to correct that for you, specially done for your enjoyment.
🍴The Food Review🐿️
-Someone fed us a cold, gray, funky lookin piece of meat one day at lunch. None of us could identify it, and it had a taste I have yet to eat. Pretty sure it was rat. But, the oreo icecream afterwards made up for it, 6/10
-I bought pancake mix, hoping to make my own knockoff version of those little gorditas de nata. I made mini pancakes, but was well off on the tastiness levels of the gorditas. But hey, for a pancake they were pretty nummy, 8/10
-We got those Metro al pastor tacos again, from Supertaco Y Más. Best ones I’ve had from there yet, but the worst bowel movements I’ve had in awhile. 9/10 anyways, it’s all about the experience.
-Someone told me the “carnitas mixtas” I ate were from dog meat. I didn’t believe him, until he looked it up and showed it to me, and then my companion asked the dude who was grillin it up. I guess I ate dog!! Poor poor lil puppy, thanks for sacraficing yourself for one deliciousssssss taco. 15/10
✨ Weekly Highlights ✨️
-My companion decided his hair got too long, but didn’t want to go to a barber. “They always give me a mohawk or show off my bald scalp.” So, he decided to give himself his own haircut with a pair of regular scissors! It was a 3 day process, the first day he cut the top about the same length as the sides, which everyone thought looked hilarious at District Council, I thought he kind of looked like a basketball.
The second day, he borrowed my $2 haircutter from Lagunilla, and went to town on the sides. He gave himself a gnarly mullet and a couple accidental bald patches before he called it a night.
The next morning, he worked on cutting the back, which looked like a classic Jared West weedwacking job once he finished. That is to say, he missed about 25 percent and the rest was super uneven. He blamed the trimmer, that it “got all dulled up” (which I’d probably believe). Once he gave up, I saved the day and faded the back up real nice for him with the same trimmers. He’s gotten a few comments on it HAH
-The parents of the Gonzalez family told us one night they had some friends they wanted us to meet, so we blindly followed them in Metro. They ended uo buying us each a crisp new pair of pants and shoes!! Man, they are such awesome folk and just so good to us, I absolutely love that family. Such great people. They unfortunately didn’t end up getting baptized, but all the kids are seriously begging their parents to let them do it!! And, at least a couple of them will be baptized tomorrow! Lots of prayers please!!
-Adán, the Venezuelan cousin of Sofia, got baptized on Sunday and it was so so cool!! He is such a funny and awesome dude, and it has been so cool to watch him change and grow as he makes covenants with his Heavenly Father. Absolute miracles right there, such a great guy!!
-A dad and his son spent sacrament snuggling (like just one big prolonged hug the whole time), whispering in eachothers ears, and kissing eachother on the forehead. I mean, they could not just sit still and listen, and it was suuuuuper weird. They were getting some stares, I was pretty disturbed. Probably not a highlight, but definitely something new.
-A super high and drunk and homeless guy came up to us at 4pm on a busy street and tried to rob us by pointing a small stick at us, I think maybe his HD Vision made him think it was a knife. After my companion and I started to walk away, he came back up to us and said “hey can I have a hug?” And my companion was like ummmm why? And he said “todays my birthday I need a big hug” so my companion reluctantly started giving him the slightest hug and the guy reached right into his pockets and tried to grab his phone and wallet. My companion snatched them right back, patted him on the head, and said “happy birthday” then the light changed and we finally crossed the street. That was awesome.
Anywho, that about wraps up this week’s main events, not too much else happened!! We had a few divisions with the ZLs, but not too much happened. We have tranfers on Thursday, find out about what’ll happen tomorrow night, and I’m almost certain I’ll be moved, which makes me sad. There are so many amazing people in this area, but I’m sure if I move, I’ll meet even more amazing people. I’ve loved being in this area!
📖 Spiritual Thoughts ❤️
As for things a little bit more spiritual, this week I’ve been thinking a lot about a great couple of lines in Mosiah 26, in the Book of Mormon. Verses 22-24…
“For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him [or her] will I freely forgive.
For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth unto the end a place at my right hand.
For behold, in my name are they called; and if they know me they shall come forth, and shall have a place eternally at my right hand.”
How important it is, then, to have a personal relationship with your Savior!! Jesus Himself said it: if you know Him, you will inherit eternal life at His right hand, and live in the glory, joy, and perfection that He has!! I would urge you, this week, to prepare for His Second Coming.
Get to know Him, and a personal and deeper level. Find Him in the scriptures. Feel His love when you take the sacrament. Pray often, even better, pray always, and remember that He hears every prayer, loves you, knows you, and will guide you as He knows best. There is no time that is more important than now to come closer to your Savior, to seek Him in every moment of your life, and to prepare to stand at His right hand in an eternal life of joy with Him. So, start now, by studying His words and the words of His prophets in the scriptures. Pray with real intent and seek to recieve answers, guidance, and revelation, and then listen and act on the answers that He will send to you!! Prepare yourself to stand at His right hand. Get to know Him, your Savior!!
Here’s a couple other verses, that are repepated throughout the Book of Mormon. The Lord and His prophets quote Isaiah, and I’ve always really liked these verses, from 3rd Nephi 18 and 22:
“Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord hath comforted His people, he hath redeemed them.
The Lord hath made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of God.
For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.”
Man, I love those verses so much. I hope you do too, and can feel and remember the perfect and infinite love that your Savior Jesus Christ has for you, individually and personally!! Remember that His arm of mercy is always there. He is always reaching out, ready to grab on and pull you out. So, choose Him! Make your relationship with Him personal, and seek His help and love in every aspect of your life. The blessings are incredible as you do, and you will be prepared to stand at His right hand.
I love you all so doggone much, and I miss you all like crazy! I hope you had a great week, and I hope this upcoming week is even better! You all are the doggone best, thank you for all your love, prayers, and great emails! I guess that wraps up the week, we’ll talk soon! I love you all!
See you next week mis capos guapos
