Happy New Year everyone!!
I hope it’s started off fantastically for each of you, and that it’s the best year yet!! I’m riding in my favorite Metro line above the city right now 🚠, on my way home from the Temple, so I feel pretty cool but also pretty time crunched. Although, despite one Jared West’s dreary 2025 prediction, I will not let you down and I’ll get something to you. In bullet points form!
✨️ Weekly Highlights ✨️️
-Sofia from Venezuela was finally baptized this past Sunday, and it was an amazing experience!! Her cousin came to support her, and asked in tears if he could be baptized too. Soon brother, soon!! Absolute miracles.
-We went to the temple this morning, which is always a highlight. There is so much inspiration and power waiting for you there! Plus, I saw my goats Elder Hadley and Elder Gage and it made me so so happy!! Love you two Elders so much, keep up the good work
-In a lesson with the legendary Gonzalez family, the dad asked his 7 year old son to say the prayer as we started the lesson. He said “And please help my big sister Linda to find a good boyfriend soon” and their dad, who is hilarious but usually pretty serious during spiritual things, just burst out laughing during the middle of the prayer which was aweosme
-Speaking of that family, they EACH accepted a baptismal date for this upcoming Sunday!! Absolutely incredible miracle. They are soooo ready, two of the kids came to an activity on Sunday night before the baptism, and the stake young women’s leader came up to us after and was like “no way those two aren’t already members. They know more than half the youth in the stake!! They are inspirational!” Which makes me so happy, that family is literally the best. Please please pleaseeeee pray for them!!
-I successfully avoided getting poisoned by a member lady that doesn’t like me for my blue eyes, but I think she accidentally poisoned Elder Wetzel. Poor fella has been throwing up his intestines. Good thing we have the tortas to replenish them. Not exactly a highlight either…
-We changed church times to 9am, which is about infinitely better. We walked into church with 12 people in teaching, was the most I’ve ever had or Elder Rodriguez has ever had, and it was probably half the congregation when the meeting started. If that ain’t a miracle, I don’t know what is!! It was so so cool, and man I won’t forget it.
-Ohio State cooked the daylights out of Oregon in the playoffs. Boo ya baby. Matt and I have them going all the way 😈
-I’m getting really fat, but its only manifesting itself in my neck and face. How embarrassing. Also not a highlight
-We played cards last Pday, and when Elder Rodriguez won, he yelled “HAH! Eat my Ohioness!!” Wowza! Now that’s gotta be one of the more exotic things I’ve heard here.
Other than that, nothing much else happened this week worth noting. Lots of daily contacts with people we have progressing, lots of lessons that ran long, lots of divisions, and lots of prayers. We also had a great Zone Conference this week! But anyways, that was just about the whole week!
With that, here comes a brief spiritual thought!
I feel like I always talk about how the Lord is always there ready for us, we jus thave to be ready for Him. Well, in case you don’t believe me, here are His own words to the people of the ancient Americas! 3rd Nephi 10, 4-6
“O ye people how oft have I gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and have nourished you.
And again, how oft would I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, yea, how oft would I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens, and ye would not.
O ye house of Israel whom I have spared, how oft will I gather you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, if ye will repent and return unto me with full purpose of heart.”
There you go, He said it, not me! He has gathered us, He has tried to gather us, and He will gather us as we turn to Him with our whole heart!! Man, I love that, and as I’ve worked on turning my whole heart unto Him this week, man I have seen so many miracles. This week really has just been a week full of so many miracles, from the baptism, to the amazing family that I love so much, for all the people that have been receiving us and coming to Church!
It really has been such an amazing transfer, I love being with Elder Rodriguez so much and we are seeing a ton of success and getting along so well. While I would like to see more of the city too, I would not complain at all about staying with him again! Anyways, so soooo crazy that transfers is in like 10 days. Makes me kind of sad, but its great to see the Lord’s work rolling along out here!
And of course, my weekly invitation to each of you is to turn to Jesus Christ more this week by turning to Him with full purpose od heart. Notice Him in the little details of your life! Recognize the hand of the Lord every day, and write at least one thing you saw that He made work out, each day this week!! I promise that there are soooo many miracles in every day life, and when you take time to recognize them, write them down, and especially thank your Father in Heaven for them, I promise that He will pour out even more blessings and miracles in your life! Do itttttttt
Anyways, that calls this week a wrap. It was a fantastic one, and I hope you all had a great week too!! Counting on this next week to be an amazing one for all of us too. Make it a great one! I love you all sooooo so much and I miss you! Don’t you forget it either.
Talk soon mis amados carnales
