Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Before any of you break out into panic; no, I didn’t miss a week of writing, my pday got moved to today! Almost thought we were going to get a back-to-back pday sort of deal, didn’t quite workout that way I guess. Anyways, merty Christmas! I’ll make this email one of my shortest ones yet so you can enjoy some more Christmas family time and all that jazz.
Lots has happened this week, yet I forgot to write down ideas of what I wanted to write about throughout the week so I’ve all but lost what I was going to say. Because of that, I will adopt the infamous, Jared West patented…
✨⚡️ ️The Lightning Round: ⚡️✨
Even if he’ll confuse cyclists for musicians or spacemen for the rest of his life, at least he could get something right.
-We have 5 people on date to be baptized this Saturday, including the fainting Venezuelan (Sofia), Gael (!!! He’s been coming to church for years, finally (almost) convinced his mom to sign the baptismal form for him!), a dude from Los Angeles named Domingo who comes to church off and on, finally got his contact info, Isildro, an awesome old dude with lots of dogs and cats, and Ibrahim Shadei, a funny little 9 year old whos Mom was baptized, little legend reactivated her!
-A sweet little lady in our ward and her daughter whos getting ready to go onto a mission baked us a big old cake, texted us this morning after our weekly Drill Sargent Yoga Session and said “Elders! We made you a Christmas cake because we don’t want you to feel all lonely tomorrow. We love you!” so we swung by their house on the way home, and man I’m excited to eat this bad boy. People here are so nice, they almost made me cry! What an awesome family!!
-Oh my goodness, also their daughter totally looks like Moana so we kept referring to her and to their family as “Moana” and “Moana’s family” and I’m really embarassed to admit that by now I can’t even remember her real name. She goes by Nath or something like that I think, but we still call her Moana anyways! Her mom thinks its hilarious, and has started calling her Moana too so I think it’ll stick around.
-We had our little mission Christmas party last night, it was pretty short but fun to see other folks! Picked up a package, listened to an hour or so of musical numbers from other missionaries and a little message from President Burnham, drank a cup of hot chocolate, and yeah! Fun couple 2 hours to see some seriously awesome people.
-I ate 10 tacos for $6 (USD, don’t worry) by the Metro station, called El Supertaco Y Más and despite mixed reviews (“best taco I’ve ever eaten” vs. “worst diarrhea I’ve ever had”) I am happy to admit, I absolutely dominated those tacos, free of negative side effects other than my ever-growing belly size. Best ones I’ve had in Mexico to this point, al pastor of course. The guy that runs the spot is legendary!
-A guy offered me his blunt while I was getting my haircut by his friend. I swear to you, I had to turn my head because he was trying to stick it in my mouth. Dang apron thing was in the way of using my hands to push it away. I still have yet to smoke weed, although some could argue he was trying to hotbox this little haircutting trailer. His buddy that was chopping my mop made him leave by the 3rd blunt in a row. Hair guy was actually awesome though! Gave me a discount 😛
-We’ve been teaching a girl named Linda who is best friends with one of our recent converts, Ximena. Her dad is a pretty hard Catholic so wasn’t really happy about her meeting up with us. The other day we were talking to a guy in the street when Linda and her entire family of 8 walked by! I guess we impressed her parentsss or something because they instantly invited us over to their house to teach a lesson. Holy cow guys, miracles are absolutely real. They asked all the perfect questions, they were so receptive and attentive, and the Spirit was absolutely their touching all of our hearts and guiding us to the things we needed to say. They absolutely loved it, gave us hot chocolate and conchas, and asked us to come back! Such a ready family, such a miracle!! Absolutely the Lord’s hand blessing us. We walked out the door, looked at eachother, and at the same time, just said “WHOAAA!” It was seriously so cool!!
-Our ward is absolutely leading the Zone right now with active baptismal dates, so the Zone and District Leaders have spent a couple days just helping us visit some of our people we are teaching and running baptismal interviews. It’s been busy!
-We got to go see the temple lights with the Young Men and Young Women in the ward, and brougt along Sofia with her baptismal invitation! Cool stuff! Plus, I took a new metro line and all of it goes above the city and really fast and I felt really cool, like I was in a spy movie or something.
-My awesome family sent me a bunch of all my moms yummy christmas candy things in my christmas package and I am so so happy right now!! Heck yes!
-Christmas miracle. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire FINALLY came on for the first time and after I stopped screaming a jumping for joy, I had the best listen of all time!
Anyways, I think that is all the stuff of relative importance that happened this week. I’ll say it now and later for a double reminder to get it stuck in your heads, please please please pray for our people with baptismal dates! They are each so ready, willing, and excited, and I know they are so loved by their Heavenly Father! Their names are….
-Domingo
-Sofia
-Isildro Victor
-Gael
-Ibrahim Shadei
Seriously, I would appreciate your prayers so much! I will admit, our ward has been struggling lately with helping people progress to baptism lately, so having these 5 people get baptized (plus 2 more from the other elders in our ward!) would be nothing short of an enormous miracle. Christmas miracle! With God, all things are very literally possible, and to him that knocketh shall recieve! I am so so so excited to see these people be baptized and the joy it’ll bring each of them!
Anyways, I better let you guys free and enjoy your chrismtas, since I already took a lot of your time on my very un-express delivery of The Lightning Round. I better give you at least one scripture to finish it off!
Matthew 2: 10-11
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
Rejoice Him today, bring Him the greatest gift you can offer: a broken heart, contrite Spirit, a desire to follow Him, fforts to grow closer to Him, become perfected through Him, offer Him your heart and your love. I hope you have an amazing Christmas, go spend some time with people you love! Serve others around you and live as Christ would and did. I love you all so so much and I miss you, especially at this time of year!
And of course, go Buckeyes.
Merry Christmas!! I love you!
