Hi guys!
Hope everyone is doing well, I miss you all! I don’t have a whole ton to write about this week but here we go.
This week was pretty routine with morning Gospel classes, lunch/language study/gym time, then language class. Its been repetitive but good! I’ve learned more Spanish and gained more perspective on the gospel which has been awesome, and my teachers are absolutely amazing!!
I’ve also successfully avoided Montezuma for all but one day (which I’m pretty certain was the day we accidentally ate the tacos with uncooked chicken). I’m starting to realize that while the food here does taste pretty good, it all kind of tastes the exact same, just in a different form hahaha!
Last week in our evening devotional on Tuesday, we heard a devotional live from Provo given from Elder Bednar, and I’ve gotta say he was dang amazing again and I’ve loved learning from him here. He testified of the truth of the Book of Mormon and emphasized the priority we need to place in it. There was a lot more good stuff in there, but that stood out to me in particular. The next morning I decided to refocus my personal study time to only the Book of Mormon (instead of Spanish or randomly jumping around the New Testament) and I read some amazing chapters of scripture that have been floating in my head all week.
I’ve been reading in Alma, in some of the best chapters in the BoM imo, and Wednesday morning I read in chapter 42 verse 31 which stuck out to me:
O my son, I desire that ye should deny the justice of God no more. Do not endeavor to excuse yourself in the least point because of your sins, by denying the justice of God; but do you let the justice of God, and his mercy, and his long-suffering have full sway in your heart; and let it bring you down to the dust in humility.
And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now, my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them. And may God grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.
Just felt like that scripture was Alma speaking directly to me as I prepare to go teach God’s plan to the children of God. I also read D&C 11 about the work of the Lord with the gift of the Spirit on Sunday, and that was amazing too! I’d highly recommend that you give it a read sometime!
Last night, the 3 week district that we rode on the bus to the temple with last week came and said goodbye. I loved getting to know them and I didn’t realize how sad I’d be to see them go! It was awesome to talk, laugh, and learn Spanish from them and I’m sad to see them leave but know that they will do amazing work teaching the Gospel in their native language.
Anyways, other than that not too much went down this week! I love all your emails, thank you so much! If I haven’t responded yet, know that I’ve read them, appreciate it a lot, and will try my best to respond eventually. You guys are the best, thank you for your support!
Last thing, reiterating Elder Bednar and Elder Holland in our devo last Sunday. Convert yourself. Strengthen your faith everyday, and live according to your faith. I promise that the blessings that will come to you are real, tangible, and powerful!
Remember that you can take few things with you into the next life: your family, your faith, and your example for your future generations, so prioritize those things now so that you’ll look back with gratitude!
Well that’s all from for now, sorry for the essay! I love you all, I’m praying for you, y yo sé que nuestro Padre Celestial se conoce.
Hablar con ustedes luego!
– Noah
