I want to hear from you!! How have you found joy this week? I hope you have had so much joy and you’ve made a real effort to put Christ first this week! You have stayed in my prayers!
Here in the fantastic CDMX it was another fantastic week. Really, it usually is! It’s hard to have a not great week when you’re out serving God and His children and seeing miracles every day!
🌇
– On Tuesday we went out and worked with our friend Memo, and it was a great day! We saw so many miracles, and we met so many amazing people period he is a great person and a great teacher, and I learned so much from him! He took us out to get pastries afterwards, and it was delicious. Even though it was dumping rain, he was still willing to come out with us, and promised to take us to his favorite tacos on Saturday. I can’t wait to keep working with Memo!
– On Thursday we went with the other Elders in Marina to go do a service project with two awesome members in our ward, Francisco and Fatima. They are a young married couple obsessed with everything Utah, so we talked a lot about Lululemon, Stanley water bottles, and Peleton hahaha! Great folk! We helped them set up a new shed outside their house, which was overly complicated but lots of fun! On Saturday, they had us over for lunch, and absolutely delivered on our promised chipotle burrito bowls. That, combo-ed with Nerds Gummy Clusters for desert brought tears to my eyes, they are some amazing people!!
– We had the feeling to go look for a massive family we found a couple weeks ago that we haven’t been able to meet with in awhile. We couldn’t find them at their house, so we sat outside to give them a call and send out a few texts. Two minutes later, Mariana and her three kids walked by!! We invited them to church and she shared some stuff with us, and we talked about the importance of putting Christ first. She finally gave us her phone number, a fulfilled her promise to come to Sacrament Meeting! They absolutely loved it, and the members absolutely love them! It was soo good to see and we are about to go visit them in an hour or so!
– We met another amazing member named Mayetzy who hasn’t come to church in like ten years and has been wanting to come back! She just moved here and was able to come back, and it was so good. It reminded me of Elder Gilbert’s talk about coming home!
– Saw a duck quack at a few cats as we worked along the train tracks.
– Met an Uber driver who had lived in Utah for like 8 years and was thrilled to hear that I was a “Saltlake-quense” (Saltlakense?) and that I had been to his favorite ski resort, Snowbasin. Needless to say, we became fast best friends and we are going skiing if it ever snows again in Utah.
– Cruz Azul won the Liga BBVA championship to the joy of many, and since we live on the intersection of two main avenues, I was kept up for a few extra hours listening to celebration honks and fireworks and singing from the housetops. Pretty literally too!
– I made a homemade chipotle double cheese Big Mac using Walmart ingredients. Now, I don’t know if there is such thing as a chipotle Big Mac, but I made it, and it was such a homerun that I may start my own business.
– After Saturday’s epic ward anniversary party, with a live band and some great food, we had our Ward Conference yesterday! It was sooo good, and the speakers did an amazing job! The chapel was filled! I particularly loved the Stake Presidents talk about four common actions the adversary tempts us to make, and four steps we can take to actively fight off the adversary. Instead of procrastinating (repentance, ministering, homework, being with family) we can anticipate how we plan to balance our lives and our priorities to get done what matters most. Instead of neglecting things we need to do, we should proactively carry them out in the same moment. Instead of justifying sins, or mistakes, or actions, we should empower others and ourselves by taking responsibility for our actions. Instead of letting our hearts be contaminated by evil thoughts, or contaminating other people with speaking of others, we should purify our hearts and others by choosing what we think, and what we speak and spread. It was a fantastic talk and one I needed to hear! Thanks Presidente Valle!
– I finally got around to buying a handmade guitar today, and I am so excited! I used two years worth of bartering skills to get myself a pretty doggone good deal. Now I just have to use those same skills on President Brady so he let’s me keep it here so I can play on pdays hahaha!
Anyways, it was a great week this week. I love Marina, I love being a missionary, and especially, I LOVE talking about, teaching of, testifying to, and helping other create relationships, with my Savior Jesus Christ! He really is my reason and my motivation. I love Him and I’ve loved trying to focus on Him more this week!

I loved a lot of the scriptures I read this week. I loveee the fulfillment of prophecy and the conversion of so many people on the Book of Mormon prior to the Lord’s coming. I love the examples of dedicated and diligent missionaries like Nephi and Lehi and those who went about making Christ known to all people!
But this week I really loved studying a famous talk by Jeffrey R. Holland, called An High Priest of Good Things to Come. It contains what is probably one of the most quoted couple of lines of any General Conference talk ever, for good reason! Forgive my mixing and matching of two lines from his talk:
“Don’t give up, boy. Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead.
Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.
You keep your chin up. It will be all right in the end. Trust God, and believe in good things to come.”
Oh MAN did that speak to me this week or what! There is no reason to quit or to stop or to give up. If we keep at it, if we try to be more like Jesus Christ, the blessings we need will come, whether now, or in 30 years, or after this life. Whatever the Lord’s timing may be, they will come.
Our job isn’t to be perfect, it’s to trust. Jesus Christ is the High Priest of Good Things to Come. He is our job for a brighter, happier, joyful future. He is the one focus that will bring us lasting joy now, too! He is joy and He is hope. Trust in Him, keep doing the things He’s asked you to, magnify your calling before Him, and know that the blessings and answers you need will come.
His timing is so perfect. His love is so whole. He wants to bless you! Trust that He will and watch the miracles come!
I love you so much. Most importantly, I know that your Heavenly Father loves you even more and has a perfect, detailed, personal plan for your life. He is going to help you become the best version of you that you have the amazing potential to become!
Go make it a great week and change some lives. You are needed here and now!
