Truck Un-stucking

Hello! Happy new year! Hello 2026! Goooodbyeee blackout year!

This week was craaaazy and I felt like so much stuff happened in such a short time. Wow! How was your week? How are you doing? I hope you are doing great and that your stoked for a new year!!

Anyways, everything is going great and I am having a blast, so I sure hope that you are having a blast too!

🌇 🇲🇽 🌮

– On Friday we had a 6.5 earthquake! I was peacefully using the bathroom when the alarm went off outside, then in our building, then from our phones. I managed to pull up my pants, find a jacket, and run down the stairs before the quake hit, and left our doors in the apartment. Oops! It actually felt pretty strong, it was definitely pretty unsteady to stand outside. No damage done! We went and got the set of keys from the other elders at the office, who were abouttt to leave for the immigration offices, and made it back just in time to finish getting ready.

– Ivana sent us two texts last night:

“Hola Elderes buenas noches, les comento algo”

“Im starving”

I think we mayyy have forgotten to tell her how long to fast for on fast sundays. Oops! She told us she was joking and wanted to scare us but said she wasn’t able to make it to tomorrow and ate already. So sorry Ivana, you already did plenty of fast hours!

– The office ran out of water, so on Tuesday, Moi, the maintenance guy, sent a water truck over to refill the cistern. Not the brightest folk around. After sloshing water all over the place, the decided to back onto the grass instead of unravel the longer hose they had so they could “save time” and use the short hose. Instantly sunk the truck into the ground. They filled up the cistern and spent the next few hours ignoring our advice and getting the truck stuck deeper and deeper. They didn’t want to drain out the water ‘since it was giving them traction’, put a log behind the tire instead of infront, chained up the tire barely touching the cement instead of the one 1.5 feet into the dirt… it was a show. At one point they managed to roll the truck out backwards, then the driver revved the engine to try to bump through the ditch, and stuffed the log deep down into the dirt and got his front tire stuck with it. After a shooting a chain out from under the tire, leaving a thick patch of rubber on the basketball court and a few buckets of gravel and some logs, they finally decided to try emptying the teuck water tank, and drove right out! I’ll bet next time they use the longer hose.

– During interviews this week at the mission home we got to watch the funeral for Jeffrey R. Holland. What a great and spiritually powerful man. I am going to miss him so much. The speakers did an amazing job and the music was beautiful and I was very glad I got to see it. May he rest in peace

– On Friday we went and picked up Elder Scoffield from the bus station who came here from the Puebla North mission! President Brady keeps saying we one a deal in the transfer portal, he is a super cool missionary with tons of experience and a huge desire to work, it was super cool to get to know him and he’s going to do great things!

– We went on a hike today and I just love being outdoors. It was so pretty and quiet, we got above all the pollution and it was so nice to just sit and breathe fresh air and think. I love being outdoors so much

📖

Well the worlds a dreary place and we all need some motivation every now and then. Thats why I loved 2nd Nephi 10 this week! Here’s a few verses I love:

“Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.

Wherefore, may God raise you from death, that ye may be received into the eternal kingdom of God, that ye may praise him through grace divine.”

Remember is such an important word. I think every time we fall back into the same bad habits we always think, if only I had remembered … !

‘Remember’ is kind of an interesting invitation. Its pretty hard to just choose to remember something. If we didn’t forget as often, there’d be a far fewer missionaries stuck outside their apartment with no keys.

The good news is, in the gospel you can remind yourself of what your supposed to do! All it takes is a constant effort to listen to the words of living prophets, read the scriptures, and pray. You won’t forget the things you need to do if you learn, listen, and talk about what it is all day!

This week, make an effort to constantly remind yourself of the good habits you want to create. Why not take the new year to remove a bad habit and put in a great one? Constantly remind yourself how to reconcile yourself with God. Remind yourself how to apply it. Then, once you know it and remember it, go and do it!

I love you all so much! I hope you’ve been having a great week and that this upcoming week is another great one. Remember to make it great!

Talk soon!
