Que rollo everybody!
I sure hope everyone has been doing great! Happy fall break! Enjoy your last day and read this email tomorrow, go on a hike or something with your family until then haha!
We had a great and we had a crazy week this last week. Holy cow, it was such a good week with so many miracles! I hope you had a miracle-filled week too!
✨️
– I have been adding to my list of dichos chilangos and I’ve gotta say they’ve got some great sayings and words here, and then they have some sayings that make absolutely no sense. “Don’t look for 3 feet on a cat” or “lets put some mole in the pot” are some of my favorites. My favorite is definitely “don’t eat the sandwich before recess” and I plan on making all of these newly used terms in English when I get home.
– We found this place that finishes off a batch of fresh churros every day as we leave our house. Hooooly cow, I found out where all my money has gone. Nothing better than a hot churro.
– Our dueños ‘trimmed’ the tree in out little patio space and holy cow, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such an interesting tree trim ever done. Wow. I will make sure to include a picture for you. Anyways, we went and moved all the branches and pine needles from our front walk up on top of the roof. It almost felt like yard work. Never would’ve thought I’d miss yard work, but heck yeah I do
– We went to check if the problematic two-sided church boiler worked, and one side fired up beautifully. The other side wasn’t turning on and so we stepped back to bother the maintenance guy again and boooom tomátela! the right side like blew up! Actually, the flame just finally ignited and lit all of the gas that I guess had been leaking in the air on fire, which was quite a bit. Set a few leaves on fire, singed a few arm hairs, and scared the pants of Elder Wetzel and I. Called the maintenance guy with greater urgency.
– We’ve been playing basketball some more with the ward and it really just is so fun!! It gives me so much motivation to wake up in the morning, and the ward members have started bringing friends to play too that are actually interested in the church!! It’s been soooo good, I love this ward!!
– Last P-Day I ate 3 Costco hot dogs. Then on Tuesday we had MLC and I had 2 corn dogs, 2 hot dogs, and some cheesecake that Hermana Brady made for us! It was delicious, but I think I’m going to have to restock on Loperamide here soon. Yeesh.
– I just got absolutely chopped. My hair is so short, shorter than Jared West’s. Don’t be surprised if its a couple weeks before you see the next picture of me on my emails. I do notttt think the ladt understood my instructions. Oops! Anyways, we did meet a family of returned missionaries on vacation from Jacksonville Florida, that was awesome and they were so nice! Almost made up for the fact that the lady was actively making me bald.
– My prayers, our prayers, were answered and Alondra got baptized!!! She had so much help and support from the ward and has such a strong testimony! It was a lot of testimony and promises but at the end of the day, she had some seriously miraculous personal answers to her own prayers and she knew she had to get baptized. Those answers came from praying and reading the Book of Mormon!! I know that book is so real and that it is exactly what it says it is: another testament of Jesus Christ. Such a cool experience! I am so proud of her, she is so excited and brought all of her friends too!!
It was such a good week with so many miracles. This work is amazing. I love being a missionary so much! It goes by too fast
📖
Speaking of the Book of Mormon, mannn, Jesus speaks some great things to the people in the people in the ancient Americas. Here’s what He says in 3 Nephi 20:
“And it shall come to pass that the time cometh, when the fulness of my gospel shall be preached unto them;”
¡¡Missionary work!!
“Then shall their watchmen lift up their voice, and with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye.
Then will the Father gather them together again”
I lovveeee that. I highlighted a couple words there for emphasis. The Lord will gather us together after we decide to be of one body and one mind. Sounds a lot like Zion! It’s not a one and done, it’s a process that requires constant work from all of us! The world is getting harder, in fact, it’s probably already evil enough for the Lord to come. But the righteous are not ready enough.
So, let’s let stuff (mostly dumb stuff, and especially temporary stuff) stay out of the way of our eternal vision. What’s more important, the dressing on the salad at the ward party or the family of Zion that are ward is in the first place? Don’t let disagreements become arguments, contention is not from God. Every time we do we mix the wheat a little more with the chaff. We need to prepare and consecrate ourselves for the Second Coming of the Savior!!
So this week, join me (because MAN I struggle) in being a little more patient with those around you. And especially with those who make you easily impatient. Do your part to make us all of one mind, eye to eye, together! Because THEN will we receive more blessings from the Lord. Pray for your enemies, pray for patience, and the Lord will bless and magnify your effort to be a peacemaker. In your family, home, school, friends, work, ward, whatever it may be, publish peace and not hate. Be patient, be kind, be gentle. There are countless blessings waiting for you!!
I love you all so doggone much. Have an amazing week! Don’t forget that your in my prayers! I hope everyone has a fun week and finds joy even when there’s hard stuff, because there will always be hard stuff! But, there is also joy constantly available. Find the joy! Focus on the good. Notice the Lord’s hand.
Go out there and do good! I love you!!
Elder Crockett ❤️
