The Mexican Massage

Que onda vatos!

Hope everyone is doing great this week! I had a super quiet and uneventful week here, and I’m out of time, so I’ll make this quick for you with a couple updates! Love you all!!

Highlights

– We have 3 friends that are on date to get baptized this week ahh! They each have a lot of interest in the Church and each have their own struggles too but they are willing and excited for their baptisms! Please keep Carlos, Dilan, and Omar in your prayers!!

– This week they set up some big tianguis or like stands I guess where they sell like everything, and I found an 8 dollar massage gun this guy was selling while he drank Huasteco and sang corridas tumbadas. Very traditional man from Jalisco. You best believe I had a financial exchange with that man. Heck yeah. My very own Mexican Masseuse. It’s a little low power-speaking (I may have bought a piece of garbage) but it gets the job done and I’m satisfied with my purchase! Now I just have to start exercising to get my muscles sore.

– I got side swiped by this dude that was probably drinking Huasteco while he rode his motorcycle and he tore my navy pants :/ but no worries because the mom the recent convert Vizuette family loves sewing random items for the missionaries, like ties and backpacks, so I’m sure I’ll get a free fix and the pants will be extra special! Maybe I’ll ask her to sign her name in stitching on my pants.

– I got really sick for a couple days, which involved way too many 3am trips to the bathroom to count, lots of Gatorade, and a day of 20/24 hours spent asleep. I was really bummed to not be able to work but I was told there is this germ going out and about and the only way to get rid of it was to let the body “purge itself of the toxins for a day or two”. My body purged them well. I’m feeling fantastic now!

– Only Huasteco could make Jared West think I owe him Wendy’s.

– I was feeling just kind of bummed out this week, things weren’t working out the way we wanted them to and I was frustrated. I was so excited to tak the Sacrament on Sunday but we got to church late trying to help our friends make it! President let us take the Sacrament on our own at the house and it absolutely changed my week and mood. I can promise that the blessings of renewing our covenants of Baptism through the Sacrament each Sunday brings real blessings. Think about its importance this Sunday while you take it! Think about what the bread and water really mean!

That’s about it for this week! We had some rain and we had some hot days but it was a normal week and not too eventful! Let’s move on

Spiritual Thought

I’ll keep this quick! This week I was reading in Doctrine and Covenants again and came across another verse that spoke to me really strongly! Here it is before we get things started, from section 61, verse 36.

Well actually a little bit of context first. The Lord was speaking here to new missionaries with new assignments, and to veteran missionaries too who had their fair share of struggles and bummers! And here is what he said to them:

“What I say unto one I say unto all, be of good cheer, little children; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you.”

Man if there was something I needed to hear this week, it was that. I was just down and bummed and not feeling the greatest this week, but the Lord put a few things in my path this week that really helped me know He was there, He understood what was happening, and He was there to give me peace.

I just want to promise you that, missionary now, ever, or never, the Lord is in your midst! His hand is working miracles in your life, and He will never forsake you. Don’t forsake Him! Recognize the little blessings and miracles as they come to your life and you will find more peace and joy in all the walks of life. There are down moments for everyone, but no one is ever too down that the Lord let’s go. He knows what is happening! Make Him a priority this week.

Well, I think that’ll be it for this time! I hope you all know how much I love you and remeber, you’re in my prayers! Have a fantastic week this this and seek out the miracles, because they are there! Let the small and simple things bring joy and peace into your week!

I love you, talk soon!!

Man, I took like no pictures this week!

Oh yeah, and look at this torta. Maaaaaaaan. Ain’t no better torta in la CDMX than the “Visitante” from El Carnalillo right in front of the temple.
🫶 Sorry Logy and Dukes, you missed this one!
