Que hubo!
Happy Christmas week! Crazy that its already come around so fast again, time is definitely not slowing down!
Hope everyone has had a great week, that everyone is so excited for Christmas break and that everyone tells me your plans!!
Anyways, it was a great week! Make it a great Christmas week and let me know what the plans are!
✨️
– Saw a top 10 all time sunset on Saturday while we were out working, and it lasted for like 30 minutes. It was so good. Pictures don’t do it justice but it was a great moment. Thank goodness for orange air days
– We had transfers on Thursday, I stayed in Montevideo 3 with Elder Nielson!! Woo hoo!
– We had a greattt ward Christmas party on Friday, it was so much fun and an incredible amount of people came. The bishop started off by doing a few songs from “Forgotten Carols” (if anyone knows what that is) but he made it a sort of solo opera version where he sang in Spanish over the song coming out of his phone speaker in english. Oooooh wow that was interesting, made for some GREAT people watching. He kept walking down the aisles and singing to specific people with his eyes locked on him!! I don’t know how everyone else wasn’t laughing, I guess they are more polite than I am. Or maybe just far more tone deaf? The second hand embarrassment was on point and I was losing it. It was awesome
– After that we helped serve the food, went and met all the friends of the members that came that have never come to church (there were sooo many!) and played basketball for a little bit. It was a great day. I also saw Alondra Lopez from Cuauhtémoc which was nuts!
– Ivana got baptized on Sunday!! I don’t know if I’ve seen a baptism that went so smoothly or miraculously through the whole process, it was actually pretty mind-blowing. She absolutely loves the Gospel and has an amazing connection with the members of our ward, she honestly seemed like a long time member even before her baptism. She was just so elect! She brought her whole family to the ward christmas party (she made a brought food too) and we got to meet them, they are sooo nice and I think they had a great time because they came to church the next day too! They seemed to be interested in the Church. This work runs on miracles, and Ivana was a crazy miracle! I’m amazed!
– The Brazilian missionaries arrived th3 day before transfers, but too late in the day to stay with another companionship. So, Elder Lima stayed with us!! It was super fun, he speaks great Spanish and seems super excited to be here so it was fun to see!
Well, that’s about it for the week, it was hectic but it was fun!! Ivana was definitely the highlight, I am so happy for and proud of her!! The ward loves her and her family and its just been amazing to see! I love missionary work!
📖
Well, it’s almost Christmas so why not focus on that!!
So, here’s a little Book of Mormon Christmas mix for you from Helaman 14 and 3 Nephi 1, about the joy of Jesus Christ’s birth! I loveee these verses!!
“Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
And behold this is not all, there shall be many signs and wonders in heaven.
And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall believe on the Son of God, the same shall have everlasting life.”
Although it’s been said many times, many ways…
Christ is the absolute most important part of Christmas. He is the light and the joy of this season! He is the light and the joy that we all need when times feel dark and cold.
Don’t ever let gifts or skiing or vacations get in the way of your worship of your Savior, who followed the will of our Heavenly Father to be born into the dark and dreary world to suffer and to heal, to weep and to rejoice, to die and to live again. Never forget that He offers the greatest gift of all, at all times of the year.
Especially now, why not do what the Savior did and lose yourself in the service of someone else? So many (probably most) of us have been blessed with so much, and there are so many out there that need so greatly. If you want to feel the Savior’s love, I promise that changing someone’s loneliness into a friendship, or sadness into comfort, will bring you the most joy this Christmas.
So, lift up someone’s head, and help them be of good cheer!! This is the best time of year to lose yourself to serving someone who needs the light of Christ that you have within you!
Anyways, that’s about all I got for this week! If you go do some awesome service for someone, tell me all about it! I want to hear about it all!
Man you guys are the best. I hope you have an amazing Christmas!! I’ll be thinking about and praying for you! I love you all so much, go make it an amazing week and make somebody else’s week even better!
Talk soon chilangos!
Elder Crockett ❤️
