Hey hey amigos what is up!
Hope this email finds you super well and that everyone is thrilled that school is starting back up yay! Hope summer was so awesome for everyone!
We had a great week once again, I hope you all did too! I love Mexcio City and I love being a missionary and it’s all been so fun! With that…
✨️ Highlights
– Well transfers news was ideal as possible, I stayed in Valle Ceylán with Elder Nye!! I’m so so excited, and they even opened up a second companionship in our ward so it’s going to be so much fun!
– I know I say this every week now but man it rained SO HARD this week (someone told me it was the hardest rain in 80 years?) and all the streets were flooded for a few days worth of rain, they closed a couple streets because it was too deep for cars and there were a few times when we spent a couple hours in water up to the shins
– It rained so much that somehow rain started leaking up through the cracks between the tiles in the floor of our house. What!
– I cut some sweatpants that had shrunk in the wash, and made them into shorts. Heckkk yeah, so comfortable, and after I messed the first time I took them to this dude that did a fantastic job. Yay!
– We made some tacos with some chicken we kind of pan sizzled in salsa chipotle and they were sooooo good. I’m guessing my chef skills crush Jared West’s
– Went to the temple a couple days this week with Sabina and Aisha and did baptisms and confirmations and it was so cool, they both loved the temple so much!
– This dude in Sacrament meeting put up an ipad while he was setting up his talk and played cocomelon the whole time with the sound off. Everyone was very distracted and kind of frustrated, until he pulled out the metaphor on us and he was like “don’t let useless crap from the world distract you from God, because i know no one paid attention to the first part of my talk” and thennnn I stopped texting the bishop to ask what the heck was going on and was pretty impressed. A good life lesson!
📖 Scripture
I’ve been reading the book Restoration by Patrick Q. Mason this week and it’s been super good. I haven’t finished it yet but I’d recommend it to everyone! Super interesting perspective about living an “ongoing restoration” in individual life and in the church, go give it a read!
I love one scripture he includes in that book that I read this week, in Ephesians 2: 19. Here it is!
“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.”
I love that so much! We are all different people with different persepctive and challenges and lifestyles, but we can all become one united family through Jesus Christ. That’s a message that should bring hope to all of us as the world become and uglier place. That just means that we, as saints, should work harder to lift the fallen, ease the burdens, and perfect ourselves to overcome the world. We will have troubles, but through Christ we can overcome!
So my invitation for you this week would be the same invitation that the Lord gives His servants (all of us!) in Doctrine and Covenants 88: 124
“Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.”
Or in other words, overcome the pleasures of the world and become a Saint through the Savior. Sacrafice brings blessings, and loving sacrafice brings real power into your life. Go out there and help make the world a better place because it is so full of trash sometimes! Go help another person, and do it one by one like Christ did. And don’t forget, I sure do love you all so much!
Thanks for reading, thanks for listening to me rant, and I hope you all know that I am praying for you! Go make it a great week!
Love you tons!
